Incidents that include road accidents, medical malpractice, intentional torts, etc known to be personal injury cases in legal language. Any incurred loss such as that of life, money, property, and physical or emotional wellness can be covered by filing such cases.

These legalities are performed by lawyers who are specialized experts of a particular field. For instance, if you are from St. Louis, Missouri, a St. Louis personal injury attorney will be in charge of such cases.

According to the TorHoerman Law, it is an evident decision to choose an attorney as they are familiar with the legal system. Moving forward, let us now talk about the incident that took place in the city. Not to forget, such cases play a vital role in bringing awareness about road safety in general.

    No More Volleyball

The incident took place in February 2023, in which a 17-year-old girl, named Janae Edmondson lost both her legs. She was a high school volleyball player who was in the city to attend a tournament.

The Nashville girl, alongside losing both her legs, underwent 29 surgeries as she suffered from multiple serious internal injuries. Her pelvis was also fractured due to the accident.

A 22-year-old guy named Daniel Riley is the announced culprit and is responsible for ripping Janae’s future. Due to speeding, his Audi collided with another car, which then hit a parked car that pinned Janae between the two vehicles.

During the trial, Janae came without her prosthetics to show the court the devastating results of the crash. Janae told the court that she grew despondent in the aftermath of the accident.

She recalls going to games and activities with friends before the accident altered her life. She also planned on attending college on a volleyball scholarship.

    A Long Guilt Trip

The accused, Daniel Riley, was soon arrested after the incident took place. After investigating many disclosures were presented during the trial. Firstly, he was driving without a license and the driver of the other collided car had a suspended license.

Secondly, Riley was already out on bond on a charge of stealing a gun and had violated the terms of his pretrial release. Nonetheless, he was speeding in excess of 25 mph at the time of the accident.

The lawsuit which was filed against him seeked $25000 as unspecified damages 19 years of prison for the culprit. The sentencing was scheduled for April 18th, 2023.
